All Aboard

I'm really enjoying drawing on the iPad, there's something about drawing digitally that removes the pressure to create a great image. I find it easier to relax and just enjoy it. This is a comp of some past sketches of my fellow commuters.

What I love about all your drawings is the indication of construction amongst the lines. Do you start with the head circle and eye line, then work out the shoulder dynamic?

Who knows mate, I think so! It's usually a manic rush to get lines down! Lately I'm trying to get the whole head shape down first and work within that, rather than staring with a circle. It's usually head, nose, eyes, then the rest. My aim is to quickly capture the feeling of the person - more character design than portrait, but really I just try and practice as much as I have time for. There's a long way to go!
